Plot: A scientist goes mad after his girlfriend's abortion and starts weeding out the 'genetically incompetent'. Full summary » |  »

Story: John (35) is a bright Cambridge scientist, who always comes across as a pleasant fellow. When his fiance leaves him, he withdraws from his world of academic isolation in order to try out some of his long-gestating theories on how to make the world a better place. On his journey through the English countryside, John is accompanied by his 14-year-old donor child - Ronja, whom he tries to convert to the same radical ideas that he believes in. Murder. The Arbiter (2013) Review by spectral-4 from Botswana
This movie certainly is one of the worst thriller movies that canpossibly be made and no one certainly would not lose anything if itwould not exist.

The plot and characters could be described as childish, not believableand unrealistic.

It certainly is hard to try to understand what this movie actually isabout in a context of reality or possibly even considering it to beart-house. The main character is cartoon-like, not having any realmotives other than his sick mind. The movie kind of tries to justifyhis actions which is even worse.

The music, characters, plot, images do not fit together very wellalthough I enjoyed the camera-work in a very small amount. Theclassical music is unnecessary trying to give this main character somefake depth, it does not work.

I had feelings of walking out of the cinema, luckily I had bought abeer so I could take a sip on most painful parts.

I do not recommend this movie to anyone.

That's pretty much what this movie is trying to achieve in the minds ofthe viewer.

The story centers around a man who has been turned down by his woman,by society, by his boring job, but most himself he has let himself downand is responsible for his own troubles. Yet he doesn't want to admitthis and looks for the disease in society.

As a viewer, I wasn't really drawn into the theories, because the maincharacter is portrayed as a weak person and the theories were not veryconvincing because of that. As a viewer you also identify with thedaughter (Ronia), but sadly her acting performance was not very good inmy opinion. I didn't find her the least bit convincing and she cameacross as very emotionless. Yet this might have been the intention ofthe film makers; the product of two intelligent people who see emotionas a disease, might be an emotionless girl, no? I liked the movie andwasn't bored a single moment and it's pretty accessible for anyaudience I think. Sometimes it's a bit over the top (blowing upextremist Muslims), and it's not raw enough. This guy kills innocentpeople, and I want to see the desperation of those innocent people toreally be drawn into it and feel with them.

Do I recommend it? Sure. The topic is interesting enough to see passedthe imperfections.
